I remember w hen I was growing up in Detroit we received our TV totally off-air. We got about 5 channels. The networks, and a couple of independents. The Detroit News published their own version of a TV guide and we used that to decide what channel to tune-in. More-over we didn’t even have a remote. so channel surfing would have been a real pain.
Today as I experiment with going off-air I find myself in a similar position. On my second TV the ROKU is not available so I have only a handful of channels. I don’t know if they even publish TV guides like that anymore. So I’m using the modern equivalent. Yahoo has an excellent set-up that lets you plug in your zip code and the method you use i.e off-air, cable, satellite etc. To use Yahoo TV Guide go here.
