Word on the street is this one will fly, and be closed by end of year. Update this weekend.
It’s the merger of the worst and the second worst company in customer service. I foresee no change to those like me who live where either one is a local government-granted monopoly, but a lot of change to those who live where both are competitors.
As a cable-cutter, I still patronize TimeWarner for Internet, but I pay twice as much as my brother who lives where there are three cable companies vying for customers.
Of course, were there more cable-cutters, these companies wouldn’t be multi-billion dollar behemoths, especially with such an abysmal record in customer service and even with immoral monopolies.
In my opinion AT&T takes the #1 spot actually. With TWC I as always able to reach a live person relatively quickly. AT&T not so much. As you imply, the broadband ramifications are the most significant event here.
I could live without high speed internet access.
Comcast is the worst company I have ever been with. There customer service is terrible, DVR is a dinosaur, and they always raise prices. Now I read they are charging customers $100 to upgrade to their new X1 DVR box. These guys are crooks and now are merging and will become more powerful. I go OTA now and have the new Tivo Roamio DVR which blows Comcasts X1 and all their other garage DVR’s out of the water.
I cannot pay Tivo’s fees. I have eight TVs. I’d need a second mortgage to put a Tivo on each of these.
