Happy Thanksgiving Cord Cutters: NFL No problem today

>

For all of you that enjoy watching NFL before, during and after your big meal, this year’s schedule presents no cord cutter challenges. There are 3 games today, all of which are on major networks.

NFL Schedule Thanksgiving 2014

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears — 9:30 am.  on CBS (nice to see Lions winning on Turkey day)

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles — 1:30 p.m.  on  FOX

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks — 5:30 p.m.  on NBC

All times are PST

I remember years ago when the biggest game of the day (New England  I think) was on the NFL network only. Some providers had it some didn’t. Maybe greed got in the way, but in any case I’m glad that practice has stopped.

Does watching football play into your annual event? Let us know how in the comments. Hope you are all having a great holiday.

We lost power two days ago. This is our third major outage since installing a generator. This time it occurred to me to plug the ONT into a backed up circuit. Amazingly, we have high speed internet despite not having power.

Of course, we also have an antenna or five and all of that is powered by the generator. I did manage to catch bits and pieces of all the games, but there was a lot of ‘surviving’ and ‘digging out’ to do. We cooked turkey on the grill which went surprisingly well.

What am I thankful for this Thanksgiving? $175 Channel Master DVR+ DVRs!

You show some genuine survival skills here. Grilling the Turkey was the best part of the story. My brother routinely grills his bird on a giant Weber and swears buy it.

      Did you have heat?

      • Len Mullen says:

Yes. We put in a transfer switch for six key circuits — two for the water pump, one for the boiler, one for my bedroom, one for the kitchen, and one that feeds lights throughout my home. So, hot showers, warm meals, and cold beer. The generator has two additional outlets. One feeds my antenna infrastructure and the other is a long extension I run to wherever I need some power.

All we really lack is washer, dryer, and stove.

A newly minted cord cutter. Here is a T Shirt campaign for all cord cutters out there:

Okay, I want to cut the cord. I live out in the country, and my big question is; How do I get quality internet that is strong enough to handle loads of online video streaming?
